We hear of balanced diet and probably learnt about it in school, but what really is a balanced diet and how can we achieve it in our daily lives?

Sleep is a fundamental part of our daily lives. While we emphasis the need for a healthy diet and regular exercise, adequate sleep is equally important.

The average daily duration of sleep recommended for adults is about 7 to 9 hours, with children and adolescents needing more sleep. Unfortunately, in metropolitan cities, the amount of time available for sleep is usually limited.

Some people feel they suffer from depression because of occasional brief periods of sadness following certain life events. Usually, we feel sad following events such as loss of a job, end of a relationship, loss of a loved one etc. However, during these periods of sadness or shortly afterwards, we’re able to engage in our routine activities and can still derive pleasure from activities we love. Depression, also known as major depressive disorder, is a mood disorder that involves a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest, which lasts for at least 2 weeks. It can last for months, even years, and usually require medical intervention.

Having hypertension usually necessitates the need to be on blood pressure medication for life to achieve adequate blood control. People dread the need to rely on one or more pills and sometimes seek for non-medical ways to control  blood pressure.
